Tulum is one of those extraordinary destinations you may have thought about for traveling with your partner or friends. But what about when it comes to traveling with your family? Especially with small children?

Many of the hotels and villas in Tulum don’t allow kids, which can be a challenge for family trip planning. Being family-friendly makes Mahayana and Zorba unique. We don’t only accept kids, we go above and beyond to accommodate families so you can have a fun, comfortable, and worry-free experience.

Take that family vacation to Tulum you’ve always dreamed of and create the most amazing memories and adventures with your little ones.

Villas for Kids

When traveling with little kids, we know that you not only need extra space to store things but also a safe and comfortable space to play. Staying in a Villa allows you to enjoy the comforts of home. With an entire hotel villa to yourself, you never feel cramped or restricted. Our properties are gated from the road and fully staffed to provide assistance and peace of mind. Each Villa has a private kitchen and includes daily housekeeping with the option to pre-stocked the Villa for your stay to make your arrival easier.

It is helpful to have a fridge for snacks and drinks (and that early morning bowl of cereal) but we know everyone in the family wants to holiday. Our central location means world class restaurants are just steps away and private chef services are readily available.

Cute onsite Taco + Breakfast Bars are onsite for the exclusive enjoyment of property guests. With delicious tropical fruit, fresh-pressed juices, and smoothies plus a variety of tacos, you don’t have to leave the property for tasty meals and snacks.

And not to worry, the Taco Bar also serves margaritas for the parents!

Safety & Comfort First

Traditional hotels can be cramped for families. Book accommodations that cater to families. Zorba and Mahayana will add essentials to your stay, such as gates for the stairs so your little ones can play safely, a high chair, and a portable crib or childbed added to your room so everyone is comfortable. Amenities for kids and babies are complimentary with your stay and make travelling with kids easy and enjoyable. Our concierge service will book your family a private shuttle from the airport equipped with a complimentary car seat and arrange for certified child care during your stay so mom and dad can enjoy a romantic dinner out.

Family Fun Onsite

When it comes to entertainment, our exclusive access to the beach makes it an ideal place to enjoy precious moments with your family, playing in the sand, swimming in the pool, and using our kayaks, SUP’s and boogie boards to enjoy the sea at your leisure. Pool floaties and kids' toys are also available by request. For older kids the Zorba property has a games room onsite with a ping pong table and big screen tv with a blue ray collection for "movie time".

Where to Go with Kids

When it’s time to get out of the villa, Tulum offers a number of kid-friendly activities and attractions that you and your family will surely enjoy.

For the adventurous, outgoing 5+ kids, Tulum Xtreme is the ideal place to combine the fascinating Tulum Ruins and a fun action-packed jungle adventure. Ziplining and rappelling are some of the adrenaline-fuelled activities you can find there, but you can also swim and snorkel through an impressive cenote. Prices Adult: $129 / Child (5-11): $79.

If your family is more interested in the Mayan culture, Xel-Ha is the place for you. Tour around the ruins with a professional guide, or snorkel with fish, take a tube down a lazy river or try out different zip lines. Food and beverages are included in the price. Adult: $159.99 / Child (5-11): $80 / Infant (0-4): Free.

Looking to snorkeling and admiring marine life? Confident swimmers can visit the second largest barrier reef in the world to enjoy marine life in their natural habitat. Swimming with turtles is possible in Akumal, a small beach town located between Tulum and Playa del Carmen. In Mayan language Akumal means “land of turtles” and it’s here that you can snorkel with turtles off the beach. And don’t forget to make a stop in one of the astonishing cenotes across all the Riviera Maya. Family-friendly cenotes near Tulum include the Gran Cenote, Cenote Dos Ojos, and Cenote AkTun Ha (or Car Wash Cenote).

Now you know, coming to Tulum with the little ones can also be a wonderful experience to create memories and special moments. At Mahayana and Zorba we will take care of you and your family way beyond any other property in Tulum. Our aim is to make families comfortable while they enjoy paradise.
