Imagine waking up to the sound of exotic birds chirping through your window and the sweet smell of coconuts tickling your nose. Can you picture the orange and purple sunrise when you pull back the curtain? Can you imagine relishing in the beauty of the day’s first rays of light?
While you sip your cup of coffee breathe in the beauty of a new day while we make you breakfast-- all made with local and fresh ingredients-- to enjoy right on the beach. You inhale deeply and smile because you feel surrounded by the tranquil summer vibes.
This is what summer time looks like at Mahayana Tulum, our collection of private rental villas on Tulum Beach.
What is the weather like in Tulum?
While some might think travelling to Mexico during the summer would be too hot, the shade from the palms and breezes from the sea keeps temperatures on the beach just perfect. Most days are sunny and clear, but the occasional fleeting thunderstorm can pass through, creating magical skies for cloud watchers to enjoy.
In the mornings, the sun starts to warm up, making it the perfect time for a yoga class, paddleboard, or run along the sea. Around noon, when the temperature warms up, the breeze off the beach refreshes the ambiance. It is the ideal moment to jump into the pool or the sea and then relax in the shade with a fresh-pressed juice or cold beverage.
In the afternoon, a refreshing snack of cold, tropical fruit or chips with salsa and guacamole will give you the right boost to prepare for a mellow night out. All our villas are equipped with air conditioning for cool, comfortable sleep. Summer is a great time to travel to Tulum as the area is quieter and summer holidays are always best spent on the beach.
What is there to do in Tulum?
Activities are back pretty much everywhere. It is the slow season in Tulum, so attractions like the ruins and cenotes are quieter, and it is easier to get coveted dinner reservations at nearby Hartwood, Arca, and Nu. While there are plenty of places to visit around Tulum, the unrestricted access that Mahayana has to the beach makes our holiday homes special. It is truly the best place to explore while feeling comfortable and private.
The onsite Taco and Breakfast Stand will not only delight you with amazing fresh, local, and delicious food but also with some refreshing beverages to sip in a hammock or lounger by the sea. The choice is yours to go out and explore, but there is plenty to discover right on property.
Stand-up paddleboards, boogie boards, and kayaks are available for you and included in your stay. You can also grab a bike within a few minutes or walk from our properties and explore the vibrant culture of the Tulum Beach area. If you feel like exploring, there are great spots for yoga, spa treatments, diving, and snorkelling nearby. You can rent gear, go with a tour company or explore independently. Feel free to ask, and we will share some of our favorites.
The turtle nesting season starts in May and ends in November. You will find turtle nests along the beach and in front of our properties. These nests are marked with sticks and protected until they hatch. Remember to give them space when the baby turtles begin to hatch and make their way to the sea. You can experience this natural wonder from a good distance without disturbing them.
You will find incredible cenotes, ancient Mayan ruins, and colourful colonial architecture if you can pull yourself away from the sea. The Tulum Ruins are close by - go early for the best experience - and the Coba ruins and cenotes are a great day trip.
